Stringa Queen Size Bed - Gae Aulenti - Mobili

Italian Postmodern Stringa queen size bed from its first owner. A rare find on the market.
Designed by Gae Aulenti for Mobili Italy.

This piece by female architect and designer Gae Aulenti features stunning details. The bed consists of a tubular frame and a burgundy base. Two leather cushions are attached to the tubular frame, functioning as extra comfort to the headboard.

Gae Aulenti (1927–2012) was an Italian architect. She is well-known for several large-scale museum projects, including the Musée d'Orsay in Paris and Palazzo Grassi in Venice. Aulenti was at the forefront of Italian post-war design. Her designs were meant to make connections with both history and future of Italy. The postmodern movement that Aulenti belonged to refused to design in the objective language of the modernists. This avant-garde postmodern design movement was the beginning of new type of Italian art, architecture and design.
