The CAB chairs, designed by Mario Bellini in 1979, introduced a groundbreaking concept with their use of leather to cover the entire chair in a single, seamless layer. The rich patinated natural leather is expertly stitched along the sides, creating a dynamic and cohesive design that stretches across the chair. A particularly elegant detail is how the back flows smoothly into the armrests, forming a soft, curved shape at both ends.

As the first-ever chair to feature a free-standing leather structure, the CAB chair was inspired by the way skin fits over the human skeleton. The leather pieces are carefully sewn together only after their outer edges are trimmed to ensure a perfect fit. Once assembled, the cover is attached to the chair's steel frame using a zipper fastening, much like a custom-tailored garment. Today, this iconic model has evolved to meet contemporary needs, remaining as timeless and innovative as ever.
